Who We Are
EnergyWorks is a privately held oil and gas exploration and production company headquartered in Northwest Arkansas. We focus on acquiring and developing cash-flowing, PDP-heavy operated assets across the Permian and Mid-Continent regions.
Our leadership team drives growth through strategic partnerships and acquisitions, with active operations across five key basins: Arkansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, North Dakota, and Texas.

Leadership

Will Cains
President of Operations
Will Cains is the President of Operations for EnergyWorks, bringing more than a decade of experience in the energy industry. He began his career at Devon Energy in Oklahoma City where he gained experience in multiple basins across the Lower 48 in both conventional and unconventional oil and gas plays. Since joining the EnergyWorks leadership team in 2023, he has played a pivotal role in finding new opportunities for growth through strategic partnerships and natural resource acquisitions across the five basins where the company is currently active. He oversees geology, engineering, and land functions.

John Rausch
John Rausch is a seasoned real estate leader with a strong track record in oil/gas investments, homebuilding, land development, and diversified investment. He was the Co-Founder and original investment partner in EnergyWorks in 2008 while also serving as CEO of a large homebuilding company that spanned across the southern USA. John pioneered many of the original investments of EnergyWorks through early acquisitions of legacy-owned working interests across Arkansas and Oklahoma, along with new drilling ventures in the Arkoma basin during the height of the shale gas boom.

Josh Carson
EVP & General Counsel
Josh Carson serves as Executive Vice President and General Counsel at Rausch Companies, and was a Co-Founder of EnergyWorks in 2008. Along with John Rausch, Josh helped lead the Company’s early campaigns of acquiring numerous non-operated positions in wells across Arkansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Texas. Prior to his current role, Josh was a partner with a well-known law firm in Arkansas that represented local, regional and international oil/gas/coal clients operating across the southern United States.

Eugene Post
Eugene’s career began in 1982 as a geologist for Texas Oil and Gas (TXO) in Forth Smith, AR, where he cut his teeth identifying drilling prospects in the Arkoma Basin. When TXO sold to another company, Eugene and two partners formed Fort Operating Company, also in Fort Smith, where he spent more than two decades as managing partner and principal geologist. As a company owner, he was engaged in all aspects of the industry including land, engineering, legal, and more. He and his partners sold the company in 2013 and today Eugene serves as senior geologist for EnergyWorks, focusing on natural gas exploration and production.
